Autumn at Cinnamon Rose: The Beauty of Handmade Pottery for the Season
There is something about autumn that makes a home feel especially inviting. Perhaps it's the rich, earthy colors, the changing leaves, or the simple pleasure of bringing a little of the season indoors.
Here at Cinnamon Rose Primitives, autumn has always been one of my favorite times of year. And this year, I have something especially meaningful to share — a growing collection of Cinnamon Rose Pottery that brings together my love of creating, beautiful glazes, and the warmth of seasonal decorating.
A New Creative Journey Continues
When I introduced Cinnamon Rose Pottery earlier this year, I had no idea just how much this new creative adventure would mean to me.
Working with clay has opened up an entirely new world of possibilities. From creating decorative plates and seasonal pumpkins to experimenting with glaze combinations on mugs and decorative plates, every project has taught me something new.
One of the things I find most fascinating about pottery is that even with careful planning, the kiln sometimes has a few surprises waiting.
Glazes interact differently depending on their application, the clay beneath them, and the heat of the firing. Beautiful variations in color, texture, and movement emerge, giving each piece its own personality.
And that is one of the things I love most about handmade pottery.
Bringing the Colors of Autumn Indoors
Autumn decorating has always been about creating warmth and character rather than perfection.
This season, I've especially enjoyed creating pottery pumpkins with rich, earthy glazes that complement the traditional colors of fall. Their warm browns, deep greens, and rustic finishes look beautiful nestled among primitive treasures, old wooden pieces, and seasonal greenery.
I've also been exploring decorative plates and smaller pottery dishes inspired by the beauty of nature.
A handmade pottery leaf dish can be a lovely accent on an entryway table, while a decorative plate can add a special touch to a cupboard or shelf.
And unlike mass-produced seasonal decorations, the variations in each pottery piece give it a character all its own.
Handmade Pottery: Beautiful to Display, Wonderful to Give
One of my goals with Cinnamon Rose Pottery is to create pieces that can be enjoyed in everyday life as well as displayed in the home.
A favorite handmade mug can make that first cup of morning coffee feel a little more special. A beautiful pottery bowl can become part of a family gathering. And a seasonal decorative piece can be brought out year after year, becoming part of a family's treasured traditions.
Recently, my very first pottery customer described her purchases as "treasured family heirlooms."
I cannot begin to tell you how much those words meant to me.
To think that something I created might become a treasured part of someone's home is one of the greatest rewards of this creative journey.
A Special Milestone for Cinnamon Rose Pottery
This autumn has brought another wonderful surprise.
Three of my Cinnamon Rose Pottery creations were awarded blue ribbons at the 2026 Eastern States Exposition, affectionately known throughout New England as The Big E.
As someone who is still relatively new to pottery, receiving this recognition was both exciting and encouraging.
But perhaps the greatest satisfaction continues to come from opening the kiln, discovering how a new piece has turned out, and imagining where it might eventually find a home.
Every successful firing inspires another idea, another glaze experiment, and another opportunity to create something special.
A Little Piece of Cinnamon Rose for Your Home
As the seasons change, I hope you'll take a moment to explore the growing Cinnamon Rose Pottery collection.
Whether you're drawn to a rustic autumn pumpkin, a decorative plate, a colorful stoneware mug, or a little dish for your favorite treasures, each piece has been selected or created with the same appreciation for individuality and charm that has always been part of Cinnamon Rose.
And because glaze results and handmade details can vary, many pieces have a character that cannot be duplicated exactly.
Handcrafted to be used. Created to be treasured.
That is the heart of Cinnamon Rose Pottery, and I am so grateful to have you along on this new journey.
Until next time,
Brenda
